MANUFACTURING

Our varied and highly flexible manufacturing infrastructure allows us to provide our Customers with the most extensive selection of quality products, cost options, and lead-time alternatives.

Worldwide Sourcing
Our aggressive global sourcing initiatives enable us to remain quality-minded and price competitive.  Our Customers demand value, and Superior delivers.  Employing manufacturing techniques that are not limited by geographical location allows us to offer a wide range of affordable, high quality apparel and accessories.  Additionally, it provides us with the ability to offer important lead-time options to our Customers, as delivery timeframes vary by production point.

We manufacture at facilities around the world.  We provide our global network of plants continual access to a highly motivated and dedicated team of experienced management, quality assurance and engineering support personnel.  Our stringent standards for excellence are enforced worldwide, and have been nationally recognized as “trendsetting”.

Our Partners in Latin America
Superior Uniform Group® has supplier plants in San Salvador, El Salvador and Tegucigalpa, Honduras.  All of these manufacturers are privately owned companies that are under contract, guaranteeing that they meet the intense certification process that we have established.  Many of these relationships have been in place for over 25 years, and existing operations have expanded to accommodate our ever-growing demand.  Because of this, we view the issues of quality, employment practices, maintenance standards and all other compliance measures with a heightened sense of importance and significance (see Vendor Compliance below).

The local leadership at these facilities is strongly supported by a variety of personnel from our domestic manufacturing and quality teams.  Additionally, we routinely perform audits to make certain that they are in compliance with all local labor laws regarding age, working hours and working conditions.  Our examination of the laws where we operate indicates that regulations meet or exceed U.S. standards.  In most cases, we have found that the local requirements are not only met, but most often exceed stipulated criteria.  These are all clean, well-lit factories, and employ much of the same technology used in our domestic factories.  Members of management from the Latin American locations also frequently visit our U.S. facilities for various training classes and progress meetings.

In addition to providing a great deal of employment in these areas, we also make large charitable donations of new merchandise to their Catholic and Evangelical Missions.  The items are for the use of their beneficiaries that include hospitals, clinics, orphanages and other philanthropic causes with which they have associations.  We have donated over 400,000 garments in recent years when extreme weather has adversely affected these regions.

Far East Production
In the last several years, we have also developed significant partnerships in the Far East.  These relationships currently exist in China, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, and our sourcing experts continue to form new ties throughout the region.  We follow the same strict operational practices that we do with regard to our domestic and Latin American facilities.

Domestic Facilities
In addition to our worldwide sources, we maintain a group of U.S. contractors who are capable of rapid production times, allowing us to react quickly to special customer needs.

Making It Yours, And Yours Alone
Working both in-house and with a multitude of outside vendors, Superior is able to offer a wide variety of customization options.  We utilize the latest technologies available in this area, and are constantly searching for new concepts to incorporate.  We are one of the largest embroiderers in the nation, producing over five million embroidered garments each year.  We also offer numerous other types of embellishments such as screen-printing, heat transfers, emblems, logo labels, braiding/striping and contrasting, along with many other alternatives.  Working with our Design team, we can also create custom-designed prints and offer a variety of other options for making your look your very own.

It’s All In The Details
Product specifications and grade rules are a Superior strength because of the experience of our “spec” writers and the state-of-the-art technology that we utilize.  For every sample constructed in our Design department, a specification sheet is generated, which provides a detailed drawing and a list of fabric resources, findings and pattern information.

Exact size and quality control specifications are provided to all plants during the manufacturing process.  Besides a thorough understanding of domestic grade rules, we work in a variety of different countries and ship garments abroad.  We have both a library of foreign sizes and extensive knowledge of international grade rules in Europe and Asia, in addition to Latin America.  Grade rules are easily adaptable based upon the needed fit of the garment.  If the garment is produced in a non-U.S. location, special instructions are provided in the language of the country of production.

Vendor Compliance
Superior has developed and implemented our own ethics and social compliance programs that cover every manufacturing source and vendor that we engage.  We require strict compliance with all local laws and a dedication to fair labor practices everywhere in the in the world we operate.  Our suppliers must not only meet these expectations ~ they must exceed them.  Click here to view our Contractor/Supplier Compliance Manual.

We were an early pioneer in the eradication of sweatshops and the equitable treatment of all personnel, and were recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor for our efforts.

Superior is also committed to supporting diversity through our use of numerous Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE’s).
